THUNDERSPORT | NEWS AND GOSSIP AT MALLORY

GP stars give Thundersport the thumbs up
GP125 star Danny Webb, fresh from his top ten finish in Qatar, popped into Mallory to give ThundersportGB a once over. The former Superteenie had a good look round, and then found something do to…
It’s a piece of cake for the Bikesport News Grid girls!
‘Storming’ Norman Lowes, Marshal Extraordinaire, and governor of many a collecting area, celebrated achieving another birthday by baking a superb cake – which he duly shared with all and sundry at the inaugural Thundersport GB event, at Mallory Park.
While more delicate souls muttered ‘so light!’ and ‘so fluffy!’ as the culinary creation was devoured, the Bikesport News girls fell on Norman’s masterpiece like ravined beasts.
Soon their comparisons of flayed fishnets and frozen flesh were replaced by much lip-smacking and satisfied growls, and in appreciation, the girls serenaded a delighted Norman with spirited rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.
By the way, Norman has decided to celebrate his birthday at the next Thundersport GB round, at Oulton Park, and at all subsequent rounds, until the cake-mix, or the girls, run out…

The Boy from the Man
14 year-old David Pearce hails from the Isle of Man, and the racing history of that island is obviously in his blood.
His racing pedigree is all Motocross, so this first road-racing season of his life is bound to be a steep learning curve
However, after four top-eight finishes in the MRO Superteens at Brands, David blitzed the opposition, not once, but twice, in the J & S Aprilia Superteens at the Thundersport GB opener at Mallory.
Making the most of a fine pole-lap, achieved despite the lousy weather, David disappeared down the road, to win by a handsome 17-second margin in the first race.
Later, he resisted the challenges of Jack Blake and Frazer Rogers, to claim the double win.
Rain delays plane, on return from Spain
Weston-super-Mare’s Fraser Rogers turned twelve just before last Christmas, and is one of the youngest riders in the J & S Aprilia Superteens.
His youth, however, belies his experience – Frazer was Minimoto British Champion aged nine, and won the 70 Metrakit Championship when he was eleven.
A seventh place, and then a second, at Mallory, were his rewards from an event he nearly missed.
Returning from a break in Spain, bad weather forced his plane to divert to Teeside airport, necessitating a dash to Leicestershire.
