Sterilgarda Yamaha's James Toseland reckons he is pleased with his pace and consistency at last weekend's Portimao World Superbike test, and is now looking forward to the next set at Phillip Island next month.

The former MotoGP man eventually finished sixth fastest overall but upped his pace considerably in the final dry session of the three-day test and finished less than a second off Jonathan Rea's quickest laptime.

“I’m really pleased overall. We’ve worked through a lot of stuff over the last three days and I feel I’ve got a lot more understanding of the bike. The team has worked really well and I’m pleased we’ve managed to keep consistent fast pace over the test. I think there’s more to come so I’m looking forward to getting started again," said Toseland.

Team-mate Crutchlow, meanwhile, was upset he managed to crash on Sunday was still able to finish in fourth, two tenths faster than Toseland.

“It was frustrating to fall, the track so was so slippery it was unavoidable, but it cost me some time on the track. Having said that we’ve had a really good test, we’ve worked through a lot of things and I think we’ve got closer to a good set-up for the first race. I’m really keen to get to Australia and start the next test before we kick-off racing," he said.
