Factory Aprilia World Superbike star Leon Camier reckons he is happy enough with his performances at the recent Portimao and Valencia tests, and is now looking forward to the final set in Australia before the season opener at Phillip Island.

Even though both tests were interrupted by rain, Camier has taken his usual pragmatic approach by getting down to sorting a good base setting for his RSV4 and not gone chasing laptimes.

"I didn't go after a really quick lap because we had so much work to do with the bike, and still do, that it didn't really matter. I got down and concentrated on a setting where I can do some consistent times," said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com from Andorra this morning.

"I only did one lap on a qualifer at Portimao but came in because I just wasn't feeling it and Valencia was a wash-out really. I think we will be in good shape for Phillip Island. I know I'm not going to be chasing race wins from the off, but I was only a few tenths behind Max in Portugal.

"It's important to get the base of the bike right. I did the same with the Honda in 2008. We were eight or ninth in testing but when the season got under way we were right there, so I am not at all worried."
