Injured World Superbike star Loris Baz will be forced to sit out his home round at Magny-Cours this weekend as he feels it is too risky to race so soon after damaging his back.

The factory Kawasaki man suffered a huge highside in warm-up at the Nurburgring which resulted in a fractured vertabra. The youngster has now set his sights on a return to action at the final Jerez round.

"My injured fourth vertebra requires a minimum of 45 days of rest and unfortunately, having thought about it properly whether I should take risks or not, I decided not to ride," said Baz.

"If I was to race I would not be able to give it 90 per cent so it is preferable and more reasonable to pull out and be 100 per cent ready for the last round in Jerez, in my full capacity and fight for the podium. I am still going to be present in Magny-Cours for my sponsors and fans."
