PBM Kawasaki's Stuart Easton has only had nine months to recover from the Northwest 200 crash that very nearly took his life and now he says he feels comfortable riding a Superbike again after putting in 72 laps at the Brands Hatch test yesterday before moving on to Snetterton.
The Hawick British Superbike star has been out on track again today and is lapping around the early 1'50s mark. The Scot says that he should be in good shape for the opening round if he makes another big step between now and the Brands opener.
"I jumped on the bike yesterday and was surprised how good I felt. I'm moving around on the bike a lot better than I was in Spain, I've got a bit more strength. It went downhill a little bit towards the end of the day just because my leg got tired but I was chuffed to bits with my performance at Brands," said Easton, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Snetterton.
"I did 72 laps, got plenty of work done and woke up this morning feeling pretty good so we've done a load more work today. We started on worn tyres, then put a new set in later on. I don't know what lap times other people are doing but I'm pretty happy with how we have got on. I've got a couple of weeks to recover but if I can make the same size step from here to Brands as I made from Spain to there, then we should be in good shape. There's a chance I might get out again before the end of the month too."
