Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has taken the win in today's Saschsenring MotoGP race as team-mate Casey Stoner crashed on the last lap while challenging the Spaniard for the lead. Stoner lost the front at the bottom of the waterfall allowing Jorge Lorenzo to bag second.

The team-mate had pulled a 10-second advantage over the factory Yamaha man with Pedrosa taking the lead from Stoner on lap 12. The Australian then sat in behind the number 26, looking for a place to pass and tried it into the penultimate corner but asked too much of the front Bridgestone, going down.

It means Lorenzo takes a 20-point lead ahead of Stoner at a track where no-one had anything like the pace to challenge the RC213Vs and the Spaniard finished a full 15 seconds behind Pedrosa, who also leapfrogs Stoner in the title chase.

Britain's Cal Crutchlow will be kicking himself after running off the track while challenging team-mate Andrea Dovizioso and Ben Spies for fourth place. He had the measure of the Italian and was looking for a pass on the brakes down the Waterfall but had a bobble going into turn one, ran across the kitty litter and re-joined in 11th.

The Coventry man then had to battle back through but could only manage eighth place. Stefan Bradl delighted his home fans with a fifth place and Valentino Rossi also took his best dry-weather finish of the year with a sixth place. Alvaro Bautista came through from dead-last to take seventh. Hector Barbera was ninth and Nicky Hayden tenth.

Randy De Puniet was leading CRT rider ahead of Colin Edwards and Aleix Espargaro while Britain's James Ellison took a championship point in 15th.
