Ducati's Valentino Rossi hasn't exactly said he will be doing a rain dance for Sunday's MotoGP round at the Sachsenring but implied he and his crew would be happier if the heavens opened in time for the race as tyre choice for a dry event is looking difficult.
The Doctor placed fifth in this afternoon's wet second session and only 11th in the dry morning period. He said the harder of the Bridgestone options isn't giving a huge amount of grip but will last while he believes he will struggle with the soft past half distance.
"In the wet it was better but we had some problems with the balance of the bike and the position of the front but, like in other races, in the wet we are fast because I am just 0.3 slower than the top guys and we are happy if we can, a bit, improve the balance of the bike and we can be a bit faster," said Rossi, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"In the dry, we have the same problem, always difficult to enter the corner. This morning I try the hard tyre and do some lap, I am quite constant but not fast enough and I think for Sunday, the tyre choice will be very important if it will be dry. The hard is constant and wears better but is more slow.
"With the soft it will be difficult manage the last part of the race but at the beginning can be a lot faster. It is a difficult decision, so we hope to have some other dry practice but also if it is more wet, we are also happy."
