Police appealing for witnesses after fatal Scarborough crash

North Yorkshire police are appealing for witnesses to the accident that claimed the life of Cock O' The North competitor Steven Hix on Sunday.
Mr Hix, 38 of Holbeach, Lincolnshire, died after suffering serious injuries in the crash at 6pm. The accident is being treated as a single vehicle collision and occurred at the bottom straight of the circuit where Mr Hix lost control of the his motorcycle and came to rest in a field.
Mr Hix's father, Denis, issued this statement:
"Steve was an accomplished and experienced racer with a passion for the sport and many wins at all levels to his credit. On track, he was well known for being a hard charger and fiercely competitive. Off track, a kind and loving family man.
"The family would like to thank all those in attendance following the accident, particularly the on-track medics, and the A&E trauma team at Scarborough District Hospital for their help and support.
"Also, thank you to everyone for all the messages of condolence and support the family have received and through these we know that Steve will be sadly missed in the paddock but never forgotten."
