MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews has completed 30 tentative laps at the Guadix British Superbike test this afternoon when the track finally opened following overnight snow.

The circuit, which sits in the Spanish Sierra Nevada foothills, had five-inches of snow this morning but work by track officials and some bright sunshine allowed the riders to be out on track in the early afternoon.

"I couldn't believe it this morning when I opened the curtains. I have been away from snow for two weeks and it felt like a home from home," said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.

It felt good to be out on the bike again even though the track was damp in places. I did 30 tentative laps, just getting used to riding again and to get rid of some of the winter cobwebs.

"We don't know what the weather is meant to do tomorrow. It was supposed to be warm today but look how that ended up. Hopefully we will get a full day in and some testing done."
