Laverty secures more 250cc points

Ireland's Eugene Laverty just scraped another point-scoring position of the year in this morning's 250cc race in Misano after recovering from 17th and pushing himself past Efen Vasquez on the very last lap. He eventually finished 15th.

Laverty had put his LCR Honda on fifth row of the grid yesterday and looked to be racing well within his pace, dicing with Karel Abraham for the last available points. He was demoted to 17th with 12 laps to go as Abraham upped his Aprilia's pace and Laverty couldn't live with it.

However a couple of crashes later in the race saw the pair move up the order and Laverty took the chequered one tenth of a second ahead of the Spaniard but eight seconds behind Abraham.

Dan Linfoot eventually retired out of 20th place.

Jorge Lorenzo was gifted a win when the Honda of Andrea Dovizioso seized at the end of the back straight with nine laps to go. The pair had been involved in a five-way dice for the lead early in the race but as the lap board clicked down to 14, they both pulled the pin.

The Spaniard was more than happy to sit behind Dovi's Honda for a handful of laps, looking for a place to pass, but the Italian was having none of it and they swapped places until the Honda uncharacteristically seized.

Lorenzo cruised to the win, and continued his march toward another world title, beating Hiro Aoyama by three-and-a-half seconds and Hector Barbera by seven seconds.
