PBM Kawasaki’s Stuart Easton took his fourth Macau Grand Prix victory earlier today, making it look relatively easy and crossing the line ahead of Michael Rutter by some 14 seconds in his first race at the Guia circuit in four years.
The Hawick rider led away from the lights and was never headed, sticking to his plan of getting away early and building a lead while Rutter, Lee Johnston and Martin Jessopp scrapped it out for the podium spots.
“It didn’t feel that easy! The plan worked, which was to get away in front and settle in for a couple of laps, and try and set a pace that I felt fast enough but still comfortable with so if anyone came with me, we could race at the end. It’s nice to win on my return having missed three years, to take pole and to win. I couldn’t have asked more from the tyres, from the bike and from the whole team,” said Easton.
"To come back after three years and win again is fantastic. I knew my wife and my little boy were watching back home so I had to do it for them. It was a case of just getting my head down and building a lead and I was comfortable putting the laps in.”
