British Superbike front runner Dan Linfoot has 'loved' his first ever outing at Phillip Island during day one of practice for the Classic and has enjoyed every minute being on board the Team Winfield Honda Harris machine.

The North Yorkshireman rider used the four sessions today to simply get accustomed with the bike and the 4.445km circuit layout. “I haven’t made any changes to the bike as I have just ridden it every time to try and get familiarized with the track,” Linfoot explained to bikesportnews.com.

“Phillip Island is a track which I have always wanted to come and visit. So to have the chance to come here and race the Island Classic at such an awesome track is fantastic.”

Linfoot, who is a factory Honda rider in his domestic series, hopes that he can increase the pace more tomorrow to be in a good position for the four six-lap races across the weekend.  “Overall I’m smiling as it’s such a great place to be at with a great team as well.”
While it may be Linfoot’s first time at the track, he does have a fair idea how the circuit works as when he was a kid he was quite addicted to PlayStation and addicted to always riding at Phillip Island on the MotoGP games.

“Combining that with years of watching the World Superbike and MotoGP races here, it’s strange because I know exactly where it goes, I just haven’t ridden it with my own references,” explained Linfoot, who felt like from lap one this morning he already knew the circuit but had to become familiar where to brake and so on.

“It’s crazy, as I feel like I’m still in the PlayStation a bit, but the track is really good fun and really fast and suits my style.”

The tracks in England which Linfoot really like are fast, like the ‘Island’ so riding at this iconic circuit is something really up his street.With one day under his belt, bikesportnews.com fired the question to Linfoot what was his goals for the upcoming races on Saturday and Sunday?

“I’m not going to stand here and say I want to win. Of course I want to win. But the bigger picture is that I try and finish all four races, hopefully I have no mechanical issues or make an error. If I can improve every finish of every race and contribute to our team hopefully winning the International Challenge, then that will be job done,” finished Linfoot.
