Continuing her busy racing schedule, Sam Burman, riding her Bartonfield Ltd Honda RS125 entered the New Era Motorcycle Club meeting at Cadwell Park last weekend, competing in Sunday’s all comers and 125 classes, securing three podium finishes during the day.
In the morning qualifying sessions, Burman eager to get going, was first on the road, having a lonely ride around during the all comers qualifying, ending up with a time good enough to secure second place on the grid. The 125 qualifying session witnessed Burman circulating with another 125 machine to secure another front row start, this time taking third place on the grid, alongside a 250 on pole and one of her fellow 125 rivals.
Burman made a good start to her first race of the day, the all comers race, passing two riders on the opening lap, to lead the race, but due to an incident, the race would be red flagged, and re-run over a reduced number of laps. Making another good start, Burman led the field away, with Adam Robinson running close behind. The two were running together for the duration of the race, with Burman making good use of her pitboard to retain the lead, taking a well earned victory.
Running both the 125s and 250s on the same grid, Burman would be held up slightly on the opening lap, sitting up a 250 rider at the bottom of the mountain in her desperate bid to stick with the leading group. She exchanged several passes with John Lea, before losing more time getting by another rider, finishing the race somewhat disappointed with third place.
In her last race of the day, Burman made another one of her trademark good starts on her Bartonfield Ltd Honda RS125, moving ahead of a 250 at the first corner to put her in 2nd place. Maintaining a good pace she would pass the leading 125 to take the lead in her class, making several attempts to overtake a 250 in front and pull away, but the power of the larger machine just proved too much on the straights, Burman eventually having to settle behind and was re taken on the final lap as she made a mistake and ran wide at Charlie’s, which left her second in her class.
Her lap times were consistent and near her personal best for the circuit, which is a good omen, as she returns to Cadwell Park next weekend, Sunday 9th August, this time riding the Penrith Motorcycles Yamaha TZ250 with the Auto 66 Club.
“I really enjoyed my weekend at Cadwell, it was good using my contact lenses at a place I know so well, and I’m now full of confidence again," said Burman.
The following weekend, 14-16 August, Sam Burman returns to the NGRRC Championship’s riding both her Bartonfield Ltd Honda RS125, and the Penrith Motorcycles Yamaha TZ250 at the picturesque circuit of Anglesey, North Wales.
