Brookes joins factory Yoshimura team at Suzuka Eight-Hours

MCE British Superbike star Josh Brookes is set to join the factory Yoshimura Suzuki team for this year's prestigious Suzuka Eight-Hours.

The Bringelly man, who set the Isle of Man TT paddock alight last week with his record-breaking 127mph lap and tenth place on his debut, will partner Nobuatsu Aoki and Takuya Tsuda in the squad.

"Obviously it's an awesome opportunity to ride in the factory team and I'm so happy they have chosen me to be a part of. It's a great opportunity to win such a prestigious race and would be part of what could be my best year yet," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"The TT was awesome and so far British Superbikes is going well too, so a result at the Eight-Hours and an opportunity to showcase what I am capable of on a bike in front of a lot of people, including the Japanese on their home turf, is great.

"I have had an ambition to win at Suzuka since watching Grand Prix as a kid, when all the greats like Doohan, Rainey and Schwantz stopped mid-season to take in the event. I have already fulfilled my goal of competing there, but now that I’ve been given an opportunity to ride Yoshimura tuned GSX-R1000 at the event, I know that I’ll be in a team capable of winning-even though it will not be easy."
