Legendary sidecar passenger Dave Wells has died.

Mr Wells, a long-time racing partner of Roy Hanks, was involved in an incident at Mallory Park yesterday during the International Sidecar Festival. He was 61.

Mr Wells died from his injuries at the Leicester Royal Infirmary on Saturday after the accident in the Formula 2 class. An investigation has now been launched, although the venue’s general manager John Ward said “mechanical failure” was believed to be to blame. Hanks suuffered minor injuries in the accident.
