Hutchinson calls time on 2012 season

Swan Yamaha's Ian Hutchinson has been forced to call time on his 2012 racing season after an infection in his badly-damaged leg was discovered during a routine check-up.

Hutchinson has no option but to undergo a bone graft on the leg and then give it complete rest for the rest of the year. Clearly disappointed, Hutchinson hopes this will be the end of his woes and he can come back to race-winning form in 2013.

"It's a huge disappointment for Ian and the team but we have to make sure he is medically well and we will support him all the way through this setback," said team boss Shaun Muir. "Ian needs to rest up as much as he can and come back stronger in 2013.

"He showed a lion's heart and massive determination at the TT. We had big hopes for the Ulster Grand Prix but it is not to be. The important thing now is that he gets the absolute best treatment possible over the coming months and we can have a productive and successful season next year."
