Departing Aprilia World Superbike star Eugene Laverty has confirmed he is in talks with the Pramac Ducati MotoGP squad for the 2014 season and isn't placing all his hopes with Aspar for next season.
The young Irishman has been told there is no place for him next to Sylvain Guintoli in the factory squad next season and he will more than likely be replaced by Marco Melandri.
He is in advanced negotations with Aspar to replace the outgoing Randy De Puniet and partner Nicky Hayden but refuses to back only one horse and has also been in talks with Francesco Guidotti for a spot at Pramac on a prototype next season.
"The Aspar deal isn't coming together as fast as I would like. I am not entirely sure what the problem is but I can't stand around waiting, so there have also been conversations with the guys at Pramac about next season too," said Laverty, speaking to bikesportnews.com from Laguna Seca.
