Lowes looking to pressurise Sofuoglu at Silverstone

Yakhnich Yamaha's Sam Lowes plans to use his hometown advantage and put the pressure on World Supersport championship rival Ken Sofuolgu at this weekend's Silverstone World Superbike round.

The youngster has a 34-point lead over three-time champion Sofuoglu but sees Sunday's race as a chance to pile on the hurt and extend his advantage as he did at Donington Park in May

“It’s a big race for him and me and I expect it will be a big battle and I hope a great race for me. I have the advantage and he knows that he needs to finish in front of me but if I can beat him here it puts more pressure on him," said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“He is always tough to beat and this is an important time of the season for both of us but it is a home race for me. Earlier Donington Park, my other home race, was really good for me and I want to make up for my disappointment of being second at Silverstone last year. At the moment all is going well for me and a win would be good for the championship.”
