MotoGP Assen: Crutchlow brands Barbera 'an idiot'

Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow has slammed Spanish rider Hector Barbera for constantly trying to get a tow in qualifying and messing up other people's fast laps.

The forthright Coventry man branded the Pramac Ducati racer 'an idiot' after it appeared Barbera tried to get in behind Andrea Dovizioso for a tow around, the Italian shut off and then Barbera held up Crutchlow on what could have been a front-row lap, dawdling on the racing line.

“In all honesty, I think Andrea thought I was following him when I was two seconds behind, it was Barbera that was right up his arse. When Andrea shut off, they both sat online then Barbera shut off and he just cruised around three corners so I had to follow him. He is an idiot, this guy is an arse. He has been told by his team. He does it every session with Lorenzo and he goes fast for one lap and finishes 12th in the race or wherever," said Crutchlow, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"I’m on the second row and it makes no difference now but I at the end of the day we could have been on the front row. The aim is to be up there in the race not just on the front row but there is a big gap that shouldn’t have been there. I could do a 33 but I did a 34.4 because I was riding around for five corners behind some idiot. I'm not very happy but he does that all the time."
