MotoGP Assen: Debut Moto3 front-row start for Kent

Britain's Danny Kent has bagged his first Moto3 front-row start for the Assen race tomorrow. He will line-up right next to team-mate Sandro Cortese, who knocked the youngster off pole with his final lap of the session.

It was an Ajo Red Bull one-two with the fastest laps typically coming at the end of the qualifying period when everyone was looking around for a tow. Kent lifted himself from the bottom end of the top ten into third as he pulled round a pack of riders with only a few minutes left.

He then got his head down for a fast circuit but couldn't shake off Cortese. The youngster says he has got back the confidence he found in testing and it shows as he was never less than three-tenths slower than his more experienced team-mate. Niccolo Antonelli rounds out the first row with Hector Faubel, Nicki Ajo and Maverick Vinales on row two. Danny Webb will start from 20th.

“My result at Silverstone gave me back the confidence I had in pre-season testing,” explained Kent. “Also we’ve had some updates on the bike and the two things have really helped me. I think I helped Sandro get pole and I can’t wait for tomorrow.”
