Gresini Racing's man Michele Pirro has topped the rain-hit final MotoGP free practice at the Sachsenring with fellow CRT runner Mattia Pasini in second, the pair taking advantage of a drying track at the end of the session using slicks to set their times.
Nicky Hayden had set the fastest time in full wet conditions but found himself more than two seconds off the pace when the chequered flag came out. It was a half-hearted practice from most of the prototype riders with fourth-placed man Andrea Dovizioso only doing four laps while next up, Hector Barbera, stuck in a massive 13.
Ben Spies was sixth, Ducati test ride Franco Battaini, standing in for Karel Abraham, in seventh with Valentino Rossi, Alvaro Bautista and Ivan Silva rounding out the top ten. Casey Stoner and Cal Crutchlow didn't leave their garages while Jorge Lorenzo did one lap and called it a day.
