The famous Sunflower Trophy short circuit meeting, one of the highlights of the Irish season, has become the latest meeting to be cancelled in Ireland this year.
Scheduled for 3-4 August the meeting had been brought forward from its traditional October date, but with the current entry problem, lack of sponsorship and a clash with the Silverstone WSB round the meeting has been shelved.
This is another blow to the Irish Superbike Championship, which has also lost this weekend's Kirkistown round as two races per class were also scheduled for what was usually a high profile meeting. The next major short circuit meeting is now the Adelaide Masters at Bishopscourt on Saturday 18 August.
