Thruxton BSB: 'Race against time' for Richards

Smiths of Gloucester Triumph team are in a 'race against time' to get the reigning Motorpoint British Supersport champion out for race two after his crash in the first outing of the day this morning at Thruxton.

Team manager, Rebecca Smith, has said the damage is 'not quite as bad' as they first anticipated, but she has fingers crossed the Adelaide racer will be on the grid this afternoon.

"The damage is not as bad as we thought but it was on fire for a long time. On top of that Billy [McConnell] and Graeme [Gowland] hit the bike as they came past but we have everything we need to fix it," said Smith, speaking to bikesportnews.com after the first race at Thruxton.

"The marshals did the best they could, which we're grateful for, and at the moment it does look positive. Hopefully, he'll make it out. It's simply a race against time."
