Honda Racing’s BSB Showdown contender Jason O’Halloran is determined to bounce back strongly at this weekend’s Assen round.
The Australian had a difficult time in the wet at Oulton but a steady increase in pace over both races means he goes to the Dutch track with his head up.
“Oulton Park was challenging for us, because it took a while to get into the wet conditions because I didn’t feel as confident until the mid part of the race,” said O’Halloran.
“I think that is down to the amount of time we have had in the wet on the new bike and also that I had the crash in the first race at Silverstone that would have knocked my confidence a bit. But we worked through it and at the red flag I was on the back of Hicky and Shakey.
“Race two was better for us although eighth isn’t the best result, our pace was strong and I closed the gap and matched the lap times of the guys ahead of me so that is a big positive. We had to come through the field which is never easy when there isn’t a complete dry line, but the feeling was good.
“I love Assen but I haven’t really had that many races there. I think it is going to be another close weekend and we are in a position where we can only move forward and try and close that gap.”
