Assen BSB: Pace-setter Iddon uncertain of tyre choice for races

Tyco BMW's Christian Iddon is still not sure what tyre compounds he is going to use for the double header at Assen on Sunday. But it has been a positive day for the Riders Cup contender, as he was the fastest racer in the second MCE British Superbike free practice session today.

Iddon was two tenths under lap record pace in FP2 and put down a quick 1'36.752 this afternoon at the TT track. He even out-paced title rival's Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne and JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Leon Haslam in the process.

Tomorrow his team are going to try some race simulations to give themselves  more of an idea of what tyres will be suitable for the S1000RR, and hopes to keep up his good pace for qualifying.

"always enjoy Assen; it’s a wicked track and I love it! We had a pretty good day on track and replicated what we did here last year, so to have been first and second in the opening practice sessions is a good start for me and the team," said Iddon.

“We have been looking at the different tyres as we don’t know what we are going to use yet for the races, but we plan to do some race simulations tomorrow to give ourselves a better idea. I feel good on the Tyco BMW and am really enjoying being here so we just need to keep that up for qualifying tomorrow and then the races on Sunday.”
