Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha’s Shaun Winfield has signed a new deal that will keep him with the team for the 2017 MCE British Superbike season.

The team will be making a further announcement in the coming weeks regarding his team-mate for next year.

Winfield has already had two season’s of experience in the premier class and this year has improved his form on the R1, and achieved a career best result of sixteenth during the last round at Donington Park. For 2017 the 23-year-old is aiming for points finishes in the championship.

“I’m delighted to continue with the team for 2017, and I’m really excited for next year. It’s great to get signed up at this point so I can focus on the rest of the season, we were very close to getting in the points at Donington, and I’m looking forward to working hard in the final five races to get into the points, so we can end the year on a high,” said Winfield.

“I’ve had another learning year more or less in the Championship after the team changed manufacturer for 2016, so with a full year of development under our belts, and once again another extensive winter testing programme in place I am expecting much better results in 2017. The team have further developments in place to improve the package for the new season, I can’t wait to get started.”

Team Owner Rob Winfield added: “I’m really, really pleased Shaun has agreed to stay on for 2017, this year he has learnt a lot once again on brand new machinery. He has consistently improved on his on his personal best lap times at every circuit we have visited this year, and you can certainly see the progression.

“We have once again an extensive winter testing programme in place so we can improve on the package that has been built throughout the season, alongside the upgrades that we have in place to be worked on during the winter. 2017 is certainly going to be a strong year, and we want to add to that and run at the sharp end.”
