Bradl to fly solo at Misano WorldSBK this weekend

Red Bull Honda’s Stefan Bradl will be the team’s sole rider at this weekend’s Misano WorldSBK round following the tragic death of team-mate Nicky Hayden in a cycling accident.

Bradl had Michele Magnoni as a partner for the two-day test which came straight after the Donington round but his team will not be fielding a second rider in Italy.

Leon Camier has been linked with the team but has remained silent on the speculation and Honda will have few options at this point in a season. Taking Jake Gagne from the MotoAmerica line-up or Jason O’Halloran from BSB is unlikely as they have jobs to do in their own championships. MotoGP test rider Hiro Aoyama could be drafted in, however.

“Misano is going to be a good race for us and I hope the recent test will help us to be more competitive this weekend. It’s a track that I really like because it’s a good mixture of fast corners and slow sectors,” said the German.

“I hope with the data we were able to gather during the test we will go some way in making a step forward and so move closer to the front of the field. This last month has taken its toll on all of us, but we will do our best to stay focused and do a good job.”
