Brands BSB: Cheetham takes second Ducati Cup win of 2018

Mark Cheetham claimed his second Ducati TriOptions Cup race of the year on a drying track at Brands Hatch this afternoon.

The Highsparks Motorsport rider took the lead on the sixth lap of today’s 15 lap race, and held it all the way to the chequered flag.

Saturday’s winner, Rob Guiver, started from pole but it was Boast Plumbing’s Josh Wainwright who got the hole shot and led the pack into the first corner.

But Sean Neary moved ahead a lap later before Scotsman Lewis Rollo made a pass heading into Surtees to take the lead, while Cheetham slipped behind him into second ahead of Neary.

South African Phil Atkinson levered Neary aside for third on lap five before Cheetham snatched the lead from Rollo at Paddock Hill Bend.

From there, the series veteran was never seen again as he sped into the distance to take victory by 2.682s, while Wainwright pipped Rollo for second two laps from the finish.
