Brands BSB: Cook makes it four from four in Motostar Standard

Wilson Racing’s Max Cook made it four wins from four races in the Hel British Motostar Standard class at Brands Hatch last weekend and keeps his 100 per cent record for the season so far.

Cook bagged pole position during Saturday qualifying which stood him in good stead for both encounters at the Kent circuit. In race one made a good start and was never headed, taking the chequered flag. Race two was not so simple and Cook had to scrap his way to get to the leader before making the winning pass with five laps left to run.

The team’s other riders Charlie Atkins and Tom Alexander - who is in the main Moto3 class - scored eighth and 15th respectively but both retired from race two.

“A mixed weekend for the team, but I am delighted for Max who couldn’t have done anything more. He has now won all four races this season. Whilst there is a long way to go he already has a 33 point lead. Brands Hatch Indy proved a difficult track for Charlie last year and this year it proved problematic for him too,” said team boss Gary Wilson.

“However, the next round is an Oulton Park where he had a good result at the end of last season. Tom continues to do what is asked of him. His lap times are what we have asked and he continues to pick up points on the way.”
