Brands BSB: Fraser rules the KTM Cup

Cameron Fraser took the verdict by a whisker in a first race Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup thriller and the youngter provided an action replay later on Saturday afternoon as he completed the daily double but he was denied a weekend hat-trick by the determined Kevin Keyes on Sunday.

In the opener, amid a three rider dash to the line, after 12 pulsating laps he took the race by 0.009secs in a photo-finish ahead of Kevin Keyes with Chris Taylor a close third. They had duelled for supremacy for much of the race with Thomas Strudwick always on the fringe of them.

Next time out there was more of the same. Keyes made the early running from Taylor with Fraser third but there was plenty of action as the leading trio shuffled positions. Fraser had the edge, but on the penultimate lap, Taylor nosed in front. Fraser responded, snatching the race by 0.083secs from Taylor with Strudwick third.

Keyes was ready for the challenge in the third encounter, making the perfect get-away and then being able to dictate terms from the front while behind him a posse of four riders jockeyed for position. Fraser was at the back of them, running fifth, but in one attacking move at Paddock he carved into second place on the tenth lap.

It was a great move, but it was too late. By then Keyes was 2.5secs ahead and though Fraser made inroads there was no way that the rider from Edenberry was going to be caught. Consolation for Fraser was that he opened up comfortable early season lead in the title stakes.
