Brands BSB: Ellison vows ‘to come back stronger’ in 2018

McAMS Yamaha’s James Ellison certainly finished the 2017 MCE British Superbike season on a high after coming away with two third place podiums at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

The R1 rider has hinted that he won’t be with the McAMS Yamaha team next year, but Ellison has vowed to come back fitter and stronger next year in BSB and has plans in place to do just that.

It has been a mixed season for the Cumbrian who has experienced the top step of the podium, but has also had a few DNF’s with crashes and technical issues. But he came strong at the end and was so close to the victory on the final day of racing at the Kent circuit.

“We have had an up and down season. When we are not crashing we can show that we have good pace and we are at the front every weekend. Full credit to the McAMS Yamaha team and think I owe them an apology for an up and down season and there are things out of mine and their control,” said Ellison at the track.

“We will move on from it and have got plans next year to come back to BSB and to come back fitter and stronger. Big thank you to McAMS and Dams for sticking by me for the last four years, and they are the title sponsor of the team and I think they will continue to do that next year but I will be stepping aside and doing something different.”
