Brands BSB: Kennedy ‘over the moon’ with debut Q3 placing

Team WD-40’s Jack Kennedy bagged his debut Q3 position, during the MCE British Superbike qualifying session at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. The likeable Dubliner set a time that was quick enough for him to reach the final qualifying outing, and successfully made it into the top ten quickest times, to challenge for pole.

In the end the Kawasaki rider lapped a 46.366 to place him firmly on the fourth row, and has the top ten as his aim in the two races tomorrow. His team have worked hard to get rid of the issues that plagued him at Donington Park two weeks ago, which meant he came way from the first round of the season without any points.

But Kennedy is confident that he can bag some points tomorrow, and after jumping from P25 yesterday - to P10 today he is looking forward to tackling the Indy circuit on Sunday, even after a big FP3 crash which resulted in trip to the medical centre.

“I am over the moon to say the least – we have made a massive step forward. We worked tirelessly to get the bike to where it needed to be after the crash. I was a bit sore but I went out and made such big steps forward with consistent pace too. Yesterday we ended 25th and now we have ended up tenth so I am looking forward to the races tomorrow,” said Kennedy, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“We had a lot of issues at Donington and the team ironed out those issues, and the bike suits me now - more laps and track time was what we needed and we have lots of data now, and the team have been working really hard.

“I want to finish in the top ten – that’s my goal. I need points as I scored nothing at Donington and we need to move forward with the set up that we have been working on today.”
