Brands BSB: Mackenzie cruises to fifth Stock 1000 win of the year

Buildbase BMW’s Taylor Mackenzie took a comfortable fifth Pirelli National Superstock 1000 win of the season, easing across the line to extend his title advantage to 28 points.

Mackenzie rocketed through from the second row of the grid to immediately challenge Bathams BMW’s Michael Rutter, who claimed the holeshot from pole position.

As soon as Mackenzie hit the front, as he has so many times this year, he opened out a comfortable three second advantage to take the chequered flag.

His closest championship contender, Ian Hutchinson, started from the third row of the grid, but the Tyco BMW man was able to salvage second place after fighting his way past Michael Rutter in the closing stages.

Sadly for the experienced Rutter, he lost out on a podium place after Morello Kawasaki’s Fraser Rogers drafted past him on the run to the line, eventually finishing 0.044 of a second clear.

Tyco BMW’s Josh Elliott recovered from a disastrous start to take fifth place, before James East came through in sixth just 0.083 of a second ahead of Mancunian Adam Jenkinson.

Mission Racing’s Chrissy Rouse got his best finish of the year in eighth, but the Geordie was frustrated to have not finished further up the field.

Rounding out the top ten were Johnny Blackshaw and Leon Jeacock.
