Brands BSB: Maiden pole a 'dream come true' for Mossey

Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey aimed for the first two rows on the starting grid for the MCE British Superbike races at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, after finishing sixth fastest overall in the earlier free practice sessions, but a super quick 45.275 meant that he soared to P1 during qualifying this afternoon.

Mossey, onboard his ZX-10R was only a minuscule 0.06s off lap record pace and he snatched pole from JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison on his penultimate lap at the Kent circuit.

It was the first pole position of his BSB career and it is a ‘dream come true’ for the Cambridgeshire racer, but he is hoping for dry weather as he is ‘still not great’ in wet conditions, and is also eager for a bit of ‘luck’ on Sunday too.

“I knew we had a little bit more in the bag and I would have been happy with the first two rows, but to get pole like this is a dream come true,” said Mossey, at the track.

“Tomorrow will be a lot more tougher but the team are working well, and we knew we had this all year and we just needed a bit of luck on our side, and with the weather conditions we are not still great in the wet and we still need to improve. Hopefully we can get on the rostrum tomorrow afternoon. Yeah I think so [that we have got a good race pace] but it will be the same for everyone tomorrow.”
