Brands BSB: Mossey puts wet weather demons to bed

LUKE Mossey says he is happy to have finally overcome his wet weather demons after bouncing back from a crash this morning to qualify second at Brands Hatch.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider starts the first MCE British Superbike Championship race on front row after setting his best lap towards the end of Q3 today.

The session had initially been delayed after heavy rain lashed the Kent track just before qualifying, but thanks to the warm temperature, the track quickly began to dry out.

And the championship leader feels he can now challenge at the front no matter what the weather, after setting a best lap of 1’35.856mins.

“I’ve never been a fan of wet conditions, so to finally sort of put it to bed is just a nice feeling,” he said.

“It was still quite warm out there so I knew the track was going to dry fairly quickly, but I realised it wasn’t going to be that rapid. I’m pleased, not just to be on the front row, but to have been able to do those consistent laps in the wet.

“I had a stupid tip off this morning which shouldn’t have happened so to repay the team with a front row, I’m just over the moon.

“We know we’ve got good pace in the dry and now we know we’ve got good pace in the wet. No matter what weather’s going to do tomorrow we could be there to have a good go at the win. Whatever weather hits us, we know we’re now ready for it.”
