Brands BSB: Mossey sets new outright lap record in final practice

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey stormed to the top of the MCE British Superbike timing-screens, during the final timed free practice session at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit and set the fastest-ever lap at the track.

The ZX-10RR racer lapped an impressive 45.065, bettering James Ellison’s quickest time from FP1 by 0.03 seconds. The McAMS Yamaha went P2 with a 45.283 with Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne only one-one hundredth of a second off the pace of Ellison.

Mossey set his quickest time on his penultimate lap, and his team-mate Leon Haslam was up the sharp end too on the timesheets. Haslam was only 0.3 seconds slower than Mossey and went fourth, with Glenn Irwin completing the top five with a 45.446 on the Panigale.

Iddon and O’Halloran, Laverty, McConnell and Guintoli upped their pace this morning and improved to make their way into the top ten. Linfoot, Hopkins, Hickman, Brookes and Smrz were all inside the top 15 in sunny but cold conditions in Kent.

Mossey was the first rider to break the outright lap record on the ten minute mark, with a 45.065 on his 18th rotation on the SC0 rear tyre, and even though many rider’s tried they could not topple Mossey from the P1 position on the timing-screens, and looks like the racer to beat going into qualifying.

Tyco BMW’s Davide Giugliano is still unfit after a crash yesterday morning, and did not take part in the FP3 session this morning, he will be reviewed throughout the day.
