Brands BSB: O'Halloran to assess strength in first practice

Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran will spend the opening day of Bennetts British Superbike practice assessing his strength as he continues to recover from injuries sustained earlier in the season.

The Australian wasn’t able to complete either race at Knockhill last time out but has benefitted from an extra two weeks of rest and therapy, and aims to finish both outings in Kent with a good points haul.

“I really enjoy racing the full GP circuit at Brands Hatch, so I am excited to get there this weekend. Last time we raced there at the end of last year we had a strong race and finished second, so I have good memories from there,” said O’Halloran.

“I am still carrying my ankle injury, so Friday will be assessing the situation and seeing what strength and movement I have on the bike. At Knockhill I wasn’t able to complete the two races, so the aim for this weekend is to finish both races and get a good points haul.

“I felt good on the Friday and Saturday at Knockhill, but my body just wasn’t strong enough come Sunday. But we’ve had two weeks and I’ve been continuing the rehab and therapy, and last weekend I was at Goodwood with Honda, so did a lot of walking around the site and that’s helped with getting the leg strong again.

“I can’t wait to be back up the front again and I really hope we can do that this weekend, get some strong finishes and collect some more points towards our championship tally.”
