Brands BSB: ‘Results don’t show our progress’ - Laverty

McAMS Yamaha’s Michael Laverty made a step forward at the Brands Hatch MCE British Superbike round after some weight distribution tweakery at a mid-week test allowed him to exploit the R1’s strengths.

The Wales resident now believes he had a good base setting to take to the rest of this season’s races and should only need some track-to-track fine tuning to be right at the sharp end.

“Brands Hatch was a great weekend for the whole McAMS Yamaha team; sure my results card doesn't look spectacular but it doesn't show the progress we have made,” said Laverty.

“We eliminated the chatter that has been quite restrictive to me so far this season. The team made some revisions on weight distribution for the mid-week test at Cadwell Park and the results were huge for me, and that improvement transferred onwards into the Brands Hatch race weekend.

“I can now exploit one of the Yamahas biggest strengths in its corner speed and we took a big step forward in terms of pace to finish ninth in race two. Now the fine tuning begins to find the last one per cent that will see us back challenging at the front.”
