Brands BSB: Seeley wins Stock 1000 battle

Tyco BMW’s Alastair Seeley got his Pirelli National Superstock 1000 championship hopes back on track with his second win of the year.

Seeley was embroiled in a race long battle with fellow Ulsterman and title rival Josh Elliott.

The duo dived past each other lap after lap, coming together on a couple of occasions but it came down to the last lap, with Seeley holding the advantage.

Seeley was pushing hard, running wide on the exit of Stirlings which allowed Elliott to pull level on the run down to Clearways for the last time.

The pair braked late but Elliott was the later of the two. He ran in hot, past Seeley but ran out of track. He hit the gravel trap at speed at crashed out handing the win to Seeley after a brilliant fight.

As a result, Seeley has halved Elliott's championship advantage down to 22 points.

MSS Colchester Kawasaki’s Jesse Trayler was the fastest man on track in the closing stages and closed the gap to the leading duo. He grabbed his first podium of the year with second place.

Downshift Kawasaki’s James East also picked up his first podium of the year in third place, benefiting from Elliott’s last lap crash.

Bathams BMW’s Luke Quigley ended the race with the fastest lap but missed out on a podium in fourth place. He came through half a second clear of Alex Olsen in fifth.

MWR Ducati’s James Egan came across the line in sixth place aboard his Panigale, beating Scotsman Michael Robertson in the final laps.

Rounding out the top ten was Tom Tunstall, Josh Wainwright and Nick Anderson.
