Brands BSB: Sensational Supersport debut win for Ryde

CF Motorsport’s Kyle Ryde stormed to his first Motorpoint British Supersport win in impressive style, coming home over three seconds clear after smashing the lap record.

The Jacksdale teenager was put back to second from pole position after Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin charged to the holeshot.

Ryde admitted afterwards he tucked in behind Irwin for a couple laps to gauge where he was strong and after seeing his weaknesses he made his move for the lead at Paddock Hill Bend.

The reigning Superstock 600 champion charged under the inside and didn’t look back from that. He toppled the lap record three times during the race before taking the chequered flag for his inaugural middleweight win.

Northern Ireland’s Irwin held off a late fight from Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford to take second place.

A third consecutive podium for Stapleford, however, handed him the championship lead by three points.

Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon came home in fourth place after a race long battle with Sam Hornsey and James Rispoli.

Hornsey claimed fifth place but Rispoli crashed out on the final lap, marking a difficult day for Team Traction Control after teammate Andy Reid hit the deck mid race.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Ben Wilson recovered from 13th on the grid to come across the line in sixth place, ahead of Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb.

Dean Hipwell ended in eighth place, followed by EVO winner Bjorn Estment and Joe Collier.
