Brands BSB: Record breaker Stapleford bags Supersport pole

Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford clinched his fourth Motorpoint British Supersport pole of the year after blitzing Alastair Seeley’s previous fastest ever lap by nearly half a second.

Stapleford, who sits third in the title chase, battled with CF Motorsport’s Kyle Ryde for the entirety of the session.

The pair took turns at holding provisional pole, meanwhile going further and further into uncharted Supersport territory.

Eventually, Stapleford grabbed the advantage and pole position with a 1’27.567, with Ryde ending just 0.087 of a second behind him on a 1’27.654.

Championship leader Glenn Irwin could only look on as the duo ahead of him went quicker and quicker. The Gearlink Kawasaki man rounds of the front row of the grid, over half a second adrift of the pace setters ahead of him.

Traction Control Yamaha’s James Rispoli will front the second row of the grid. The Floridian ended just 0.071 of a second ahead of Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon.

Dixon didn’t finish the session, however. The Dover lad crashed out in the closing stages and was taken to the medical centre as a result with what seemed to be a left arm injury.

Rounding out the second row of the grid is Profile Triumph’s Sam Hornsey.

Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb fronts the third row of the grid ahead of his home races. The former GP rider is joined on the third row by the Gearlink Kawasaki duo of Ben Wilson and Luke Hedger.
