Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood were crowned Hyundai Heavy Industries British Sidecar Champions as they took a pair of third place finishes, just enough to ease them eleven points clear of Tim Reeves and Greg Cluze, who with a winning double, completed a haul of a dozen victories across the season.

Ben Holland/Lee Watson made the early running in the Saturday race, having the edge for the opening three laps but the threat of Reeves was growing as they carved through from third place on the opening lap to take over out front from Holland.

Adrift of them Stevens was on the charge, picking up placings from fifth to be up to third at half distance, enough to keep them ahead in the title stakes as they headed into the final double points scoring race held over till Sunday morning.

Reeves knew that he had to go all out for the win to have any chance of regaining the British crown and he did just that, charging clear, though always aware of the challenges of Holland who was closing in as the race reached its climax.

But, having narrowed to within a second of the race leading Reeves, Holland spun out of contention, rejoining to finish a distant sixth.  Chris Walker and Ashley Hawes took over in second place, finishing five seconds down on Reeves who celebrated a dozen wins, but not the championship.

That crown went to Stevens who had driven a measured race, crossing the line in fourth place on the road, adrift of 600cc class winners Trevor Founds/PeterWalmsley.  And, multi-time Isle of Man TT race winner Michael Dunlop, with Dan Sayle, took a remarkable fifth place finish overall.
