Brands BSB: Testing injuries put Kennedy's Supersport lead under threat

Jack Kennedy’s hunt for the Dickies British Supersport title could be in doubt after an injury in America has forced him to sit out practice today at Brands Hatch.

The Irishman was testing in The Colonies as a guest of Yamaha USA, who had invited him to compete in a MotoAmerica round later this year, when he suffered a spill which resulted in two broken metatarsals and a chipped collarbone.

And despite being passed medically fit this morning, the Integro Yamaha rider has not turned a wheel in either of today’s free practice sessions.

But Kennedy insists he will attempt to salvage crucial points and continue to chase the Supersport title this weekend as he currently sits 54 points ahead of Ben Currie in the standings.

“It’s such a shame to have picked up these injuries at this point of the season when everything was going so well,” he said.

“I’m sorry to my team, sponsors and supporters as I won’t be up to my usual 100% but I’ve come to Brands to see if I could pass the medical, then take it from there really.

“It will be challenging to say the least but I never give up and will give it my best shot.”
