Brands BSB: 'Tough' weekend for team manager Hill

Be Wiser Kawasaki’s Team Manager Tommy Hill had a weekend blighted by technical DNF’s and crashes from rider’s Danny Buchan and Chris Walker, during the MCE British Superbike round at Brands Hatch.

Hill has labelled his race weekend as ‘tough’ after Buchan was caught up in a crash on only his opening lap at Paddock Hill, which resulted in him having to sit out race two as he was suffering from mild concussion.

Walker is still nursing injuries after his big high-side at the last round at Knockhill. He pushed through the pain barrier to take part in both races, but experienced mechanical issues in both, which left both riders failing to bring back any points for their Be Wiser team.

But Hill was not too down hearted and understands that crashes and bike issues are all part of racing, and the former BSB champ has vowed to come back even stronger with his team at the next BSB round at Thruxton.

“Tough weekend - it can be more frustrating at times being an ex racer because I know what they are going through, and I am constantly put myself in their position. I can get quite emotional because I know how much everyone is putting in but it is a tough championship and there is a big depth of field and we just want to get a result this year. We know our bike is strong, but we are trying to get those last little bits,” said Hill, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“It is a tough, hard championship and unfortunately Danny got taken out in race one and we knew he had a good race under his belt, we would have had a good result there, and he had mild concussion and had to sit out of race two.

“It is just unfortunate and it was just a bad weekend. We didn’t have any engine problems with Chris it was an oil cooler pipe that had a tiny split in it, and its very uncommon for that to happen.

“We are a bit gutted about the whole weekend but as we had to keep doing when I was racing we have to keep on pushing on and go on to the next round, and try and move on up.”
