Brands Hatch undergoes winter runoff work

Brands Hatch, which will host two Bennetts British Superbike rounds in 2018, is undergoing some winter work which will see improvements in two major areas.

Most notable is a major development on the approach to Graham Hill Bend, the third corner on the circuit. This expansive project involves the extension of the run-off area on the right hand side as you approach the corner. The ground level is being raised in certain areas to ensure that the new run-off lies on a consistent plane.

In addition to the major developments on the approach to the corner, the run-off surface at the exit of Graham Hill Bend is being improved. The same work is being carried out at Druids bend.

Other notable improvements include resurfacing work on the section of the track where the legendary Grand Prix circuit re-joins the Indy circuit at Clearways, while at the start of the lap, new kerbs are being laid at Paddock Hill Bend.

Circuit manager Mike Groves said: "We're undertaking a number of improvements to the circuit over the off-season, including a major reworking of the run-off zone on the approach to Graham Hill Bend. This major project, along with a handful of other on-track tweaks, will put us great shape ahead of what I'm sure will be another terrific season of motor racing."
