Bridewell to race one-off Panigale at Barber Pro Challenge

Moto Rapido Ducati's Tommy Bridewell will race the first of the latest Pierobon Panigale at this weekend's Barber Cup Pro Challenge in Alabama.

Bridewell, who is still sore and probably a little singed from his interface with Dan Linfoot's prone Fireblade at Assen, is already en-route to the event with team boss Steve Moore where he could pick up more than £7000 in prize money.

The event is being run by the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association at Barber Motorsport Park during an annual classic festival with practice starting on Friday. The Panigale has been built by Boulder Motorsport.

“It was a little last minute, but Brian from Boulder Motorsport called me and asked if Tommy would be interested in racing the very first Pieorbon X85R in the Pro Challenge at Barber this weekend," said Moore, speaking to bikesportnews.com before he left for the airport.

"I’ve worked with Brian before and know he builds an amazing bike to a very high standard so I was keen to help. I think I have an idea how Tommy likes a Panigale to work now so my job is to set it up and translate from Devizes to American.

"It’s a big challenge as Tom hasn’t been to Barber before but it’s an amazing event with a big crowd, we fly today and see the bike tomorrow when we roll out in practice.”
