Balancing rules that govern the maximum engine revs for each manufacturer in WorldSBK were triggered after Donington, thanks to the complicated and impenetrable algorithm that compares the relative performance of each machine over each block of three rounds.

The output of the algorithm decides if each rev limit goes up, down or remains the same.

For everyone except BMW, Honda and MV Agusta, the rev limits remain unchanged from their current individual values. For BMW, Honda and MV, they are now 250rpm higher. Potentially, at least.

Honda put their revs up in time for Brno, but like any other manufacturer their best work will be done with a combined improvement in performance from concession parts, which all manufacturers but Ducati have qualified to use in 2018 already.

The next rev limit evaluation will come along after round nine, at Misano in July.

There is also a major change for the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship rules, after some anomalous results in what is normally an incredibly competitive class, even right at the front.
