Bennetts British Superbike bosses have confirmed that two official tests will take place in Europe ahead of the season-opening Silverstone round.

The much-anticipated first Superbike track action of 2019 gets underway in Spain, as the team’s head to the Monteblanco circuit near Seville for three days to begin their pre-season preparations on March 13-15.

Several of the riders have previous experience of the circuit and for many teams this test will mark the first appearances of their new models on circuit including the Ducati and BMW line-ups.

Following the initial on track experiences the teams will then head to Portugal for a further two days on track at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portimao on March 17-18. The track time will give vital testing time to the 2019 contenders, with many new rider and team combinations, ahead of the opening two races of the new season.

The first British track action of the new year takes place with an official test at Silverstone on April 9, with the day featuring media activities for the teams and riders alongside track time on the National circuit ahead of the all-important opening races of the season.

“Pre-season testing has traditionally seen a variety of different programmes from the Superbike teams, but this year there will be a concise format of official tests which will bring the competition closer and also give the teams a better environment to get their pre-season preparations underway,” said series director Stuart Higgs.

“This year we have the biggest grid shakeup in recent years with the exciting prospect of new team and rider combinations and that makes these tests even more crucial ahead of the opening round of the season at Silverstone.”
