Buchan happy with pace on hard tyres at Cartagena test

BeWiser Kawasaki’s newest recruit Danny Buchan is more than happy with his pace after the second day of the Pro-Test at Cartagena. The MCE British Superbike racer has yet to try out the softer option tyre, and has been focusing on the harder choice, and it’s a case of so far so good. The Essex lad has been consistently quick today, with laps inside the 1’34 bracket, but Buchan still wants more.

Alongside team boss Tommy Hill, his crew have been focusing on suspension and gears, but they have more planned for Saturday, but at the moment he is keeping what he has planned under wraps. This is a new team for the current Pirelli National Superstock 1000 champion, and he feels he has fitted in well and enjoys working with Hill, and experienced team-mate, Chris Walker.

“It is going well, it is a new team, new bike and a new crew and we are trying to go over everything. It is easy to come to these tests and put in new tyres and go quickest but our aim is to work on everything possible for the year. Our team have been really good, and we have been working hard,” said Buchan, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track. “For us having Tommy Hill there it has been absolutely mega. I know Cartagena circuit very well and it’s been good for myself and it’s a good confident boost for me as I have been setting some consistently fast lap times - and we haven’t put any soft tyres in yet, but we aim to keep enjoying ourselves.” “Today has been about suspension and gearing, and it feels like a club racer as you start from nothing. I have bought over my mechanic from last year, and he is very experienced and he says ‘walk before you can run boy’. It is also nice to see Tommy Hill here, and he got really emotional when we rolled out this morning. We have a lot more stuff to try and I want to keep learning.”
