Buriram WorldSBK: Davies mindful of Camier's podium hunt

Chaz Davies and Leon Camier have been close friends since they were teenagers and the Welshman said he was mindful of the Kent's man hunt for his first podium with Honda as he removed third place from him with two laps left to run.

Camier and Davies have raced together many times over the years and said he was pleased to see his old mucker right in the scrap for a dry-weather podium in only his second race for the Red Bull-backed squad.

“Leon is one of my best mates, not just in racing – you are not supposed to have any friends in racing – but we are an exception to that rule. The rivalry is there but it was nice to race him again," Davies told bikesportnews.com.

"It has been a long time where we have a dry fight, so he is riding really good and obviously the bike is working a lot better than it has been so well done to him, and also to Honda.

"When I passed Leon it was on my mind that I was going to take away a podium from him, but there are no gifts in this game and he would do the same the other way around. I did have a little bit more pace than him at some times.”
